Melissa Eileen Flowers, 50, of St. Mary’s, GA, passed away August 23, 2011 at Hospice of the Golden Isles.
A Celebration of her life was held on Sunday, Aug. 28 at 4:00 p.m. at Kingsland First United Methodist Church with the Rev. W.A. (Chip) Strickland, Jr., officiating.
The family received friends one hour prior to services.
Survivors include her husband, James F. Flowers; two sons, James J. (Jay) Flowers, Tyler A.D. Flowers, all of St. Mary’s; a brother, John Vant of Omaha, NE; four sisters, Valerie Hinkle (Ed) of Lyden, WA, Robbyn Handel (Larry) of Bremerton, WA, Terry Vant of Bremerton, WA, Becky Phillips (Bill) of Vaughn, WA, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mary Louise and Ed Flowers of Baxley; sister-in-law, Lillie and Donald Prescott of Brunswick and several nieces and nephews.
Born June 26, 1961 in Bremerton, Washington, she had lived in St. Mary’s for the past 15 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Kingsland, and was a paraprofessional at Sugar Mill Elementary School. She was active with the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, and Boy Scouts of America Troop 218 of Kingsland.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations to Hospice of the Golden Isles, American Cancer Society, or Boy Scouts of America Troop 218 of Kingsland.
Chapman Funeral Chapel and Crematory of Brunswick was in charge of the arrangements.
