Virginia Griffin Drennan
Virginia Griffin Drennan, 101, died Thursday, August 11, 2011 in Huntsville, Alabama. Mrs. Drennan was born Jan. 10, 1910 in Pinewood, S.C. to the late Joseph Reid Griffin and the late Sarah Isabella Stokes Griffin. She was a former member of the First Methodist Church of Baxley. Mrs. Drennan was a retired schoolteacher and a loving mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther White Drennan and the youngest of nine children, Ida, Reid, Ellen, Julian, Henry, Eugene, Newell and Edwin.
Survivors include one son, Luther White Drennan, Jr. of Huntsville, Alabama; and two grandchildren, Jennifer Drennan of Las Vegas, NV and Susan Drennan of Huntsville, Alabama.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 15 in the chapel of Swain Funeral Home with the Rev. Thad Harvey officiating. Interment followed in Omega Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Mike Redwine, Mickey Grainger, Jimmy Hardin, Carey Long, Alex Johnson and James Twiggs.
Musical selections were rendered by Brandi Harvey.
Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
