The Appling County Pirates defeated the Jeff Davis Yellow Jackets 14-7 in a scrimmage held at Jimmy Swain Stadium on Friday, August 19. The Pirates will begin the regular season at home on Friday, August 26 against Dodge County with the game scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.

- The first score of the game did not come until early in the second quarter with Donnell McMillan scoring on a one-yard run. Israel Jaramillo added the extra point making the score 7-0.
- Later in the quarter the Pirates were able to regain possession after a Jacket fumble on their own 21-yard line. On the next play from scrimmage McMillan took the ball in for another score. Jaramillo added another extra point making the score 14-0.

- The junior varsity teams from each county played the third quarter with neither team being able to score.
- The Jackets were able to intercept a Pirate pass late in the fourth quarter and score on a short pass making the score, after the extra point attempt, 14-7.
