The Appling County Commissioners met for a called work session meeting on January 15 to discuss a number of topics. Commissioner and Vice Chair Sarah Boatright called the meeting to order. Chairman Lewis Parker was not present at the meeting.
The first item of business on the agenda included discussion between the commissioners, Appling County/UGA Cooperative Extension Agent Shane Curry and local contractor Keith Miles regarding additions to the Ag Center/4-H Building on Highway 15 South (old Crossties Building). The men told the commission that they had been asked to come up with plans to add animal holding pens to the existing facility. Plans were presented to board members, which showed two additions to the existing building to house animals during competition shows. The additions would add the holding areas to the facility, include enclosing the existing open air area, include adding a concrete floor, and add heat and air where the stage area is located once it is enclosed.
The commissioners took no action on the plans that were presented.
