Thomas (Tommy) Kelly Waters, 61, of Blackshear, died suddenly Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at his residence. He was a native of Bacon County, but had lived in Blackshear the past two years. Tommy was son of the late Williard Waters and Vassie Lee Thomas Waters; a brother, Jimmy Waters and a sister, Linda Mikell, preceded him in death.
Survivors include three sons, Rodney Waters (Katrina) of Jacksonville, Paul Harden of Vidalia, and Chris Waters in the U.S. Marines; three daughters, Angie Thornton (Shane) of Baxley, Melissa Waters of Vidalia and Kellie Clark of Lyons; two brothers, Larry Waters of Alma and Kirby Waters of Statesboro; a sister, Gloria Waters of Alma; and 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 6 at 11:00 a.m. at Alma Church of Christ with Pastor Danny Turner and Pastor Terry Reagin officiating. Interment followed in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Active pallbearers were Kevin, Scott and Brent Mikell, Justin, Chase and Kyle Waters.
All others in attendance were considered honorary escorts.
