The Appling County Board of Commissioners held their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, August 2 at the Courthouse Annex. During the meeting the commissioners approved an increase for use of the Appling County Landfill.
A motion was made by commissioner Sarah Boatright to set the price of $5.00 for up to 400 lbs. of waste, the cost of the tipping fee would increase to $25.00 per ton for county residents and $40.00 tipping fee for out of county residents. A second to the motion was made by commissioner Jasper Tomberlin with all commissioners voting in favor. The new prices will take effect on September 1, 2011.
Information was shared that Tommy Davis of the County Road Department had meet with Southern Concrete on the replacement of the Zoar Road Bridge.
The minutes from the July 19 meeting were approved unanimously.
